Abilities and Explanation

Beastlord Darmac (101.2mil HP)

As a young orc, Darmac quickly rose through the ranks of the Thunderlord as a gifted trainer of beasts. Where others only saw animal instincts, he recognized intellect and drew forth untapped potential from brain and muscle and bone. When the Iron Horde demanded his service, Darmac saw no greater honor than to outfit and train the most savage beasts Draenor had to offer.

Beastlord Darmac has three phases. In phase 2, you can choose the abilities in different orders depending on which animal you let him mount when.

Phase 1, 2 and 3
 Pin Down
  • Darmac shoots out spears towards random enemies, if you get hit by it, you will get pinned down and you will be unable to do anything until the raid kills the spear.
  • The spears inflicts 36,725 Physical damage to enemies within 25 yards.
  • The spears can become flame touched with  Spirit of the Rylak, which causes them to fling hot embers at enemies.
 Call the Pack
  • Pack Beasts will spawn in the top right corner of the room.
  • They have the ability  Blood Scent which periodically increases their movement speed by 10% and damage by 5%.
  • They can become flame touched with  Spirit of the Rylak, which causes their corpses to smolder with intense flames.

  • Increases attack speed by 50% for all other allies within 30 yards.
Spirit of the Rylak  Fury of the Elekk
  • Increases all damage done by 25%.
 Heart of the Clefthoof

Execution

Beastlord Darmac has a 12 minute Enrage Timer.

Enrage shouldn't really be a problem here, this is more a control fight. Try to avoid taking as much damage as possible and you will eventually kill this encounter.

Raid Setup

Tanks: 3
  • As dps isn't really the issue on this fight, it's recommended to use 3 tanks.
  • Use 1 tank for the Pack Beasts and 2 on the boss and current animal to deal with tank swaps.
  • The tank who takes the Pack Beasts should also take Beastlord Darmac when he dismounts the animal, while the two other tank continue to tank swap the animal.
Healers: 5
  • A balanced healer setup is always a safe bet for any fight.
  • Make sure to coordinate with other healers when you will use your raid cooldowns for which  Tantrum.
DPS: 12
  • Classes with good AoE and multi-doting are recommended for this encounter.

Strategy

Save bloodlust for later in the fight. Pull him to Cruelfang (triangle) and burn the boss down to 85% to spawn the first animal.

Make sure that the raid is spread out to prevent multiple  Rend and Tears from applying. Pull the boss to the blue marker where the Pack Beasts spawns, so that you can more easily AoE them down while maintaining damage on the boss.

Make sure to have druids / hunters soothe/tranq shot the enrage  Savage Howl, and when he dismounts on 40% make sure that you dispel both the boss and Cruelfang.

When Beastlord Darmac has 65% HP you will need to have him ready at the diamond marker to spawn the Ironcrusher.

Pull him back to the blue marker to more easily AoE down the Pack Beasts. Make sure that the raid stays spread and use a raid cooldown for  Tantrum.

After this you will want to have him ready at yellow marker at 45% HP to mount Dreadwing.

Tank him in the middle of the room and have the raid stand in a circle around Dreadwing, as he will breath in a cone, the closer you stay to the boss, the easier it will be to get out in time.

If you have a Shadow Priest, have him/her  Mass Dispel on the boss when  Conflagration comes. And if some debuffs don't get dispelled, then the healers need to take care of it quickly.

At 25% tank him at the gate on the opposite side of the room from the entrance and you will spawn Faultline. We recommend having him there for as long as possible, as  Epicenter's will take up a big part of the room. Drop them something like in this following picture.

This will give you more space to work with in the last phase, which will be quite stressful. Avoid Cannonball's and continue to stay spread out and burn him down as quick as possible, while continuing to kill the Pack Beasts and spears with AoE such as Starfall and  Chaos Wave.

When Faultline dies, it's time to use bloodlust. Keep the boss in the middle of the room and have him pulled accordingly to the following arrow when he drops  Epicenter.

The raid should be spread on diamond and triangle marker, and be ready to dodge the  Superheated Shrapnel (the fire breath cone). Make sure to have a raid cooldowns for the two  Tantrums that you will get here. Bring the Pack Beasts to the boss and AoE them down quickly as they spawn, and watch out for the fire that spawns from them! This phase is just a big dps race, you wanna kill him before you run out of space from the  Epicenter and before your raid dies.

Class Tips

Restoration Druid Balance Druid
  •  Starfall! It should be up for the spears and for the Pack Beasts.
  • It's important that the spears die as they AoE the raid, you can dot them too.
Healing Priest Shadow Priest  Warlock  Hunter
